Goedverwacht, Great Expectations Crane Red, Merlot, Robertson, 2019

"An incredible value South African fruit packed Merlot. A soft and smooth cherry, plum and blackcurrant juicy mouthful that is very lightly oaked."

Les Vignerons d'Estezargues, Cuvee des Galets, Cote du Rhone, 2019

This fruity Côtes du Rhône comes from a cooperative of just ten growers between Avignon and Nîmes. All their wines are from sustainably or organically farmed grapes, and are made naturally and bottled unfiltered. It's a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, deep purple, has a nose of berries and dark chocolate, plenty of sweet fruit, good balance and length.

Domaine du Grand Arc, Corbieres Rouge, Reserve Grand Arc 2018

"This dark inky purple oak-aged powerhouse takes no prisoners. The nose is rich and smoky from the young oak and it is a big spicy, chewy blackcurrant yet well-balanced mouthful. Soft, light tannins complement the concentrated flavours and long finish.

Chateau des Joualles Bordeaux Superieur, Vignobles Freylon 2016

Ch de Joualles comes from on a small estate just south east of the St Emilion region. It's made from 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on chalky clay / limestone soils. 2016 was an excellent year, and this wine shows it. It has a spicy, slightly spirity nose with good fruit,  which leads to a robust, warm, balanced palate, with some oak and good structure. While it’s drinking well now, it will age gracefully for some years yet.

Le Cinciole, Cinciorosso, IGT Toscana 2018

The outright winner of the Italian reds, selected by our tasters. The addition of Merlot & Syrah to the classic Tuscan Sangiovese produces a smooth, well rounded balanced easy drinking wine. Youthful but without the usual Italian acidity.

Urbina Reserva Especial Rioja, Bodegas Urbina, 2006

"We have three Riojas available through WMWS, but this one is truly special and worth pushing the boat out for. Mature, complex and smooth with deep strawberries combining with oaked induced leather and cigar box notes. Don’t rush this one. "
