98% Durif, 2% Shiraz. Durif is a grape resulting in the 1860s from a natural cross of Syrah and Peloursan, a grape local to Isère in eastern France. It's now predominantly grown in Australia, Israel, and in the US where it's known as Petite Syrah.
The wine is inky, lots of fruit on the nose, with perhaps a hint of liqourice. The palate is rich, brambly fruit, a touch of chocolate, raisin, and oak. Good structure holds together a big wine. While it will develop for a while yet, it will drink beaufully now, especially with robust foods.
