The vineyards are planted around an ancient fortress dating back to the 16th century, and comprise some 38 hectares are planted with 70% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc, with an average vine of 40 years.
The wine is deep ruby. The nose shows blackberry & floral aromatics (violets / peonies) and a touch of crushed blackcurrants with delicate hints of liquorice and chocolate. On the palate blackberries again, mingling with strawberries and hints of crushed red berries, violets and perhaps liquorice.
