Macabeo (Macabeu in the Languedoc-Roussillon) is the same grape as Viura, the principal ingredient in most white Rioja. Here it’s picked early in September for freshness. Opening with a hint of pear drops, there's good weight to the palate. This drinks well on its own, but has enough character to stand up to food as well. Good balance, and very drinkable.
