The Senior Tawny comes from low yielding vineyards in the Cima Corgo region of the Douro Valley. The grapes are predominantly trodden in lagares, prior to ageing in small old oak casks. The blend of old wines giving richness, balanced with younger wines, gives both freshness and complexity. It has a brick red tawny appearance, and a velvety mouth feel, with fresh figgy-fruit and clear nutty, aged notes. Perfect with blue cheese, and perhaps even a chocolate dessert.
