Made by the same team and methods as the Crianza, Urbina Reserva Especial is again a blend of 95% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo and Graciano, this time aged for 2 years in French and American oak casks and a minimum of 2 years in bottle before release.
 
"You'd pay just to smell it!" said one of our tasting team. It's a little earthy, with hints of cigar box and leather, strawberries and black fruit, rich, well balanced and complex. it has elegance and freshness and great length. Tim Atkin MW agrees: in his special Rioja report in 2019 he picked Urbina Reserva Especial 2006 as one of his Rioja Reservas of the year scoring it 96/100 points. A joy!
